Legislative Compliance
Those who create and have care and control of individuals health information are required by norms of professional practice and legislation to protect that information and to be audit-ready regarding the use of those records:
- Privacy (or confidentiality) - Restrict the use of medical information to permitted and subject-beneficial purposes; carefully and proactively protect sensitive information from use not intended by the patient.
- Audit (or auditability) Track the various uses (display, print, &) of an EMR to make an audit possible; be prepared to answer "who, what, when" if required.
RightsVault technology is designed to be integrated with existing health information systems to provide compliance with the legislation:
- Accountability Give accountable individuals a powerful technological tool for ensuring that only authorized users access private health information, and for answering audit questions.
- Portability Integrate with the source information system simply and easily. Make almost no assumption about the system that will be used by the recipient of a protected EMR. The recipient should not need to have the source system, or any part of it. All software needed by the recipient should be automatically supplied as required.
