ETA: PROFILE OF A TERRORIST GROUP

Yonah Alexander, Michael S. Swetnam, Herbert M. Levine

Transnational Publishers is pleased to announce the publication of the second volume of the Terrorism Library Series, with the publication of ETA: Profile of a Terrorist Group.

The first publication in the Terrorism Library series, Usama bin Laden's al-Qaida: Profile of a Terrorist Network, has just been released. We have selected as the second publication another notorious contemporary terrorist group-Euzkadi ta Askatasuna (Basque Fatherland and Liberty), or ETA, its acronym. This group, formed in 1959, is one of the oldest West European terrorist structures still continuing its attacks on Spain and in France in the name of Basque nationalism.

The purpose of this book is not to glorify the ETA. Rather, it is designed to provide an easily accessible reference for academics, policy makers, reporters and other interested individuals on one of the most notorious terrorist groups. The volume exposes much of the ETA's mystique and thereby places it in perspective as one of the many challenges facing the international community in the 21st Century.
